From 28 October 2026, the Project Room at the National Automobile Museum presents GERALD LAING. FULL SPEED, the first Italian solo exhibition dedicated to the British artist Gerald Laing (1936–2011).
A leading figure in British Pop Art who, in the 1960s, was part of the extraordinary New York scene alongside Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein and Robert Indiana, Gerald Laing was one of the artists who best interpreted the relationship between art, speed, technology and the culture of the image. The exhibition offers a fresh perspective on Laing’s artistic practice through works of striking visual impact, many of which have never before been exhibited in Italy. With explosive swathes of colour and unusual cinematic compositions, the subjects – dragsters, drivers and racing cars – bear witness to the extent to which the car is both a cultural icon and a symbol of progress.
