An Argentine-American architect, Emilio Ambasz is best known for curating the 1972 exhibition *Italy: the new domestic landscape* at MoMA in New York and for his architectural research, which anticipated the debate on the relationship between the built environment and nature.
His design practice, however, also extended to the design of furniture, objects and fittings for domestic and work environments. This book explores precisely this body of work – which has received less attention than his architecture – and paints a portrait of a designer capable of balancing functional requirements, technological innovation, production processes and design responsibility.
During the event, the author Elena Dellapiana will be in conversation with Marco Rainò to explore Emilio Ambasz’s design philosophy and practice in greater depth and to reveal what she describes in the book as ‘the other Emilio’.
