Torino's Aurora district becomes an open-air workshop with In the Making. Craftsmen on Display, a day dedicated to craftsmanship, creativity and the promotion of local artisan trades.
The stretch of the Lungo Dora Firenze between Via Bologna and Via Ancona will be pedestrianised and brought to life with stands, workshops and installations that tell the story and future of Torino's craftsmanship.
The public will be able to meet local artisans, discover their creations and participate in free workshops on carpentry, hairdressing and goldsmithing, organised by the San Carlo Technical Schools and the E. G. Ghirardi Professional Goldsmith School.
The Primo Passo Association will offer a traditional Romanian embroidery workshop, where participants can learn the techniques used to make the famous Altiță shirt, recognised by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage.
At Spazio Dorado, ITS ICT students will present a multimedia exhibition in augmented and virtual reality dedicated to the “behind the scenes” of artisan crafts.
· 10.30am and 3pm: traditional Romanian embroidery workshop
· 11am and 4pm: carpentry, hairdressing and jewellery workshops
· 12 noon: presentation of the ITIS G. Baldracco School of Chemistry and Tanning in Torino
In addition to refreshments provided at lunchtime by local bakeries, the day will end with a convivial aperitif at Dorado.
In the Making is an invitation to rediscover the value of craftsmanship and the link between culture, the circular economy and shared creativity: an opportunity to learn about the wealth of knowledge and excellence present in the Aurora area.
