La maglia nera. Malabrocca al Giro d’Italia

Everyone dreams of finishing first. Luigi Malabrocca, however, chose to finish last.

In post-war Italy, whilst Coppi and Bartali were battling it out for glory, another contest was thrilling the public: the race for the black jersey in the Giro d’Italia, awarded to the rider at the bottom of the rankings. Malabrocca turned defeat into a feat, devising tricks, hiding places and breakaways… in the wrong direction. Because finishing last may seem easy, but doing so before the others is a completely different story!

Alberto Barbi brings to the stage a poetic, ironic and adventurous tale, dedicated to a little champion capable of winning over the audience without stepping onto the podium. A story of cycling and redemption, of winners and losers, but above all of that Italy which still knew how to cheer on the underdog.

An evening to discover that, sometimes, even the last rider leaves everyone behind.
