First performed in Italia by Marcello Mastroianni in 1995 and then, for 400 performances between 2000 and 2010, by Gianrico Tedeschi, Furio Bordon's Last moons is a masterpiece of theatre of the last century. Translated into many languages and staged in more than 20 countries, it now returns to the Italian stage with Alessandro Haber as the protagonist, bringing unexpected depth and nuance to the ironic and moving protagonist.
An elderly professor waits in his room for his son to arrive to reach the nursing home where he has chosen to settle, thus leaving more space in the house for his grandchildren. In the meantime, certainly full of melancholy, he dialogues with his wife, or rather with the memory of his wife, who died many years earlier. It's a conversation full of tenderness and memories, of sweet teasing and destructive truths: old age, the fear of death, the cold prospect of hospitalization for the elderly, the combination of tenderness and disappointment towards the son who didn't know - or perhaps wanted - to dissuade him from his intent.
The separation will take place and the conclusion in the hospice will be in the sign of a serene surrender to the flow of life.
