Combining an instrument with noble traditions such as the cello – to which Bach himself dedicated solo pieces that represent the absolute pinnacle of the literature for this instrument – with the guitar, which we often and improperly associate with more popular and folk genres, may be a daring undertaking, but at the same time a very intriguing one: Bach's music lends itself to any transgression, provided it is intelligent.
