The show is dedicated to women who have fought against the Mafia and uses narration and visual art to recount the relationship between women and the Mafia, from the perspective of being a daughter and being a mother, and the lives of Lea Garofalo and her daughter Denise Cosco.
Actress Eleonora Frida Mino and painter and visual artist Giulia Salza take the audience on an imaginary journey to understand what the combination of woman and mafia means.
Lea was the wife of an organised crime boss and, for the sake of her daughter, decided to become a witness for justice, living on the run with her daughter for many years. She paid with her life. Her daughter Denise decided to denounce her family and testified against her father and uncles, bringing justice to her mother.
The Mafia is also a woman. It is also a mother. It is also a daughter. Does the woman in the Mafia family know? How aware is she? Does she choose to be part of the Mafia organisation? How can she get out? Can she reach the top of the organisation? What does it mean for a woman to fight against the Mafia? What lengths will a Mafia mother go to in order to save her children? Can the Mafia family prevail over love for one's children?
These are just some of the questions that the actresses will share during the show, with a curious excursus to recount the female world within the Mafia and the women who fought it or chose it.
