The exhibition presents a selection of photographs by Lisetta Carmi from the GAM collection, as part of a project supported by the Photography Strategy 2025, promoted by the Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture.
The works will be displayed in dialogue with four sculptures from the GAM collection, selected from the collection of statuary dating from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
This dialogue aims to highlight the two themes explored by Carmi in the sculptures of the Staglieno Monumental Cemetery: the sensual representation of angelic figures or the souls of deceased women in Symbolist art, and the atmosphere of strict parental authority typical of late 19th-century bourgeois families.
