12 July 2026

Culture & Tradition

The stories of the saints come to life in the frescoes of the Precettoria di Sant’Antonio di Ranverso, where art and devotion intertwine in a series of works dedicated to the figures of Mary Magdalene, Martha, Anna and James.

The guided tour takes visitors on a journey to discover the stories of four key figures in the Christian tradition, who are commemorated in the liturgical calendar throughout the month of July.

The initiative takes visitors on a journey through a narrative woven from the images preserved in the Precettoria. The frescoes serve as a starting point for exploring episodes, legends and iconographic motifs that have helped to shape popular devotion and the medieval imagination, offering a new perspective on the complex’s artistic heritage.

The exhibition links the works to the stories of the saints, highlighting how painting served as a medium for conveying narratives, values and meanings to an audience which, in the Middle Ages, regarded images as one of the principal forms of knowledge and storytelling.
