A dark comedy set in the 1990s in a small fishing village.
The protagonists are Lori, Betti and Iris, three women from different generations united by a tragic loss that occurred twenty years earlier and is still shrouded in mystery.
The village emerges as a forgotten fragment, surrounded by a vast lake and a menacing marsh that isolates it from the outside world – a microcosm suspended between archaism and everyday life, where a small community persists, anchored to outdated customs.
Winner of the 2025 A.N.C.T. Critics’ Award, the film aims to be an exploration of the contemporary human condition: a journey into the intimacy of women’s lives that mirror one another and which, in different ways, reject labels imposed from outside. Three ages, three worlds, three seasons of life whose stories intertwine, shaped by bereavements, absences, rebirths, alliances and deep bonds.
Through sharp dialogue and paradoxical situations, moments of pure lyricism and symbolic gestures that weave through the narrative – alternating moments of poetic intensity with passages of caustic humour – Carrozzeria Orfeo crafts an intimate tale in which the gravity of grief stands side by side with the lightness of irony.
An invitation to confront one’s own limitations, to seek beauty in small acts of transformation where nothing seems to be happening. An ode to the complexity of the human being, with their capacity to lose and find themselves, caught between what defines us and what transcends us.
