How has Torino changed? Why does the city look the way it does today?
Urban Lab offers an interpretation of Torino's past, present and future: the exhibition traces the urban transformations of the city and its metropolitan area through photographs, video installations and interactive maps.
A large orthophoto welcomes visitors at the entrance, inviting them to explore the area and learn more about its shape. To the right, a touch screen hosts Geografie Metropolitane, a platform for viewing maps and data about the city.
The Past section offers visitors an overview of the changes that have taken place since the post-war period, with descriptions of spaces, architecture and political, economic, social and cultural events, many of which are referenced on the walls, where photographs and videos in backlit boxes form trees of stories.
In the Now space, a large-format map of the city (2.80×3.50 m) on a lightbox shows Torino's infrastructure, its main projects and 146 areas undergoing transformation or awaiting transformation between Torino and the first belt.
The future of Torino is presented in the Soon section through ten major city transformation projects that imagine Torino in the coming years.
The exhibition is enriched by Visitul.it, a free digital guide available on smartphones, tablets and desktops, allowing visitors to explore the contents remotely.
The exhibition also extends under the arcades of Piazza Palazzo di Città, accessible to everyone at all times.
