The history of the Mechanical Nativity Scene in Cambiano dates back to the mid-1930s, when a group of volunteers and enthusiasts began building the first figurines and mechanisms.
The foundations for the current display were laid in the mid-1990s and since then, every year, improvements have been made to the structures, furnishings and characters, also using new technologies and materials, creating an artistic as well as religious representation of considerable size and richness of detail: the total surface area is 72 square metres with about 50 moving characters and a dozen static ones.
