Violinist Maurizio Cadossi and organist Luca Benedicti, with the Aurelio Sestero Chorale conducted by Maestro Antonio Cuatto, offer a varied and captivating repertoire, a fascinating journey through centuries of great music with compositions ranging from the Baroque to the 20th century.
The evening opens with two masterpieces by Johann Sebastian Bach - the majestic Toccata and Fugue in D minor BWV 565 and the intense Aria on the Fourth String - and continues with Johann Pachelbel's famous Canon in D major and Tomaso Albinoni's stirring Adagio in G minor. The anniversary of the first centenary of Marco Enrico Bossi's death is the cue to hear two Pieces op.104, L'entreé Pontificale and Ave Maria for organ, which highlight the composer's ability to blend lyricism and virtuosity.
The final part of the programme is enriched by the unforgettable notes of Nessun Dorma by Giacomo Puccini and the Intermezzo by Pietro Mascagni, famous arias that are transformed into exciting transcriptions for organ.
