Se me lo dicevi prima (If you had told me earlier) is the new production by Accademia dei Folli, a tribute to the world of Italian songwriting, where music and theatre meet and duel to the sound of jokes.
Drawing on an extraordinary repertoire - ranging from the sharp irony of Enzo Jannacci to the grotesque poetry of Giorgio Gaber, from Francesco Guccini's Opera Buffa to the surreal imagination of Vinicio Capossela, to the sly sophistication of Paolo Conte and the light-hearted vitality of Fred Buscaglione - the show explores the thousand nuances of singer-songwriter comedy.
Carlo Roncaglia, together with musicians Paolo Demontis, Max Altieri, Matteo Pagliardi and Enrico De Lotto, stages a musical cabaret inspired by the atmosphere of the great Gufi and the comic genius of Cochi and Renato, where songs and short theatrical monologues alternate in a carousel of emotions and laughter.
Each song, each theatrical sketch, each note contributes to building a story that oscillates between the comic and the poetic, in a perfect balance of intelligence, humour and beauty.
