Third event in the series of meetings dedicated to the environment BiodivTourAlps: for more conscious views and steps.
Ordinary people have a range of ideas about animals (e.g. ticks are parasites that you 'catch' like the flu, bees are 'good' because they make honey...), but what is true and what is the result of misperceptions? And again: are there only biological reasons that motivate likes and dislikes towards certain species, or does culture also play a part?
Laura Tomassone, Associate Professor of Veterinary Epidemiology, Department of Veterinary Sciences, and Lia Zola, Associate Professor of Cultural Anthropology, Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures and Modern Cultures - University of Turin, will attempt to investigate, from an epidemiological and anthropological perspective, why we 'like' some animals more than others.
