Vauban in the Upper Dora Valley

Presentation of the cahier no. 33 of the Ecomuseum Colombano Romean Vauban in Alta Valle Dora: history and protagonists of the last French fortifications in the Dauphiné "on this side of the mountains" edited by Eugenio Garoglio, the Ecomuseum's latest work of historical research with projects, memoirs, unpublished drawings and defensive systems reported and presented with the same precision and care with which the intelligent engineer Vauban drew up military projects for the King of France Louis XIV. The material was kept in the military archives of Vincennes, close to Paris, and finds new light and allows us to reconstruct a truly unexpected scenario of the area, from the second half of the 17th century, that could have defined another history and designed other places, very different from those we know.
