There are itineraries capable of surprising even the most curious travelers, leading them to unexpected corners where the memories, dreams, and emotions of the people who lived there are preserved. This tour will take you on a journey to discover not only the evolution of rice cultivation over time, but also the roots of a scientist who revolutionized our daily lives and the evidence of this land’s distant origins.

  • A Visionary Genius – Our itinerary will take us to Livorno Ferraris to discover two small but valuable museum complexes.
The Galileo and Adamo Ferraris Memorial Museum houses memorabilia, artifacts, and models belonging to Galileo Ferraris, an extraordinary and brilliant scientist who, thanks to his discovery of the rotating magnetic field, transformed electricity into the force that still powers every induction motor today—from household appliances to the world’s largest industries.
The exhibition space also preserves the memory of his older brother Adamo, a patriot and personal physician to Giuseppe Garibaldi, with whom he shared campaigns, battles, and great ideals.
  • A Journey to the Origins – Still in Livorno Ferraris, we’ll visit the M.A.V.O. – Archaeological Museum of Western Vercelli, established following the discovery of the ancient Roman necropolis.
Its collection of artifacts, supplemented by finds from other sites, reconstructs a fundamental part of the history of the Vercelli region and serves as a true portal through time, transforming the silence of the Vercelli plain into the story of lives lived two thousand years ago.
  • A Tasting Break – Along the way, we’ll stop in the picturesque village of Asigliano, where we can immerse ourselves in the enchanting atmosphere of its rural park, sample a local dish, and relive the excitement and adrenaline of the traditional Corsa dei Buoi by visiting the museum dedicated to it.
  • The Greatest Thrill – Our final destination will allow us to enjoy a truly immersive experience in rice cultivation by visiting the historic Tenuta Castello di Sali, a prime example of typical Vercelli agricultural architecture.
The remains of the 17th-century castle, later expanded in the late 19th century, surround this classic example of a closed-courtyard farmhouse, which features all the traditional buildings but constructed using modern architectural solutions. A place of great charm that tells the story of the region’s agricultural roots like few others.
The tour will conclude with a unique experience.
We’ll enter the beating heart of the rice paddy to witness the most anticipated moment of the year: the rice threshing. An engaging and exhilarating sensory journey that will take us directly behind the scenes of our culinary culture and let us experience a fundamental stage in the journey undertaken by every single grain of rice.

At the end of the tour, the day will conclude with free time to continue exploring the city center on your own, which is coming alive with Risò—the International Rice Festival—its Village, its pavilions, and its events.
