Agliè

Testata Agliè1

A small village located a few kilometres from Torino, built on the ruins of the ancient Roman city of Alladium. Agliè is home to one of Piedmont's Royal Residences, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997: the Ducal Castle of Agliè, a history spanning seven centuries, which has seen the passage of dukes, princes and kings.

Don't miss a walk along the narrow streets of the town, under the charming arcades and admiring the beautiful churches.

Agliè was a place of inspiration for the poet Guido Gozzano. Today Villa Il Meleto, the poet's country residence and Art Nouveau villa, houses a museum on the writer and preserves some of his original objects and furnishings. And after a dive into history, you cannot miss a taste of the local cuisine in one of the local restaurants and typical products such as Torcetti di Agliè and local wines. In fact, the historic Erbaluce vineyards, cultivated on a characteristic pergola structure and included in the itineraries of the "Strade del Vino in Canavese" (Wine Roads in Canavese), wind through the hills of Agliè. Erbaluce, a vine mentioned since the 17th century, is used to produce Caluso Passito Doc and Erbaluce di Caluso Doc. A visit to a local winery is therefore a must.
