Chieri in one day

Chieri Cover Turismo Torino

Chieri is a small and elegant city, is located over the hill, really close to Torino. Explore Chieri by following this itinerary or taking part to the next Welcome Tours.

Piazza Cavour

The heart of Chieri, known as ‘La piazza dei chieresi’ is an uphill square where the main events take place.

The churches

The Cathedral

Erected on the Roman site dedicated to the cult of Minerva and rebuilt from 1405 on top of a Romanesque church, it presents interesting Gothic shapes.

San Giorgio

The church is located at the top of the hill dominating the historic centre of Chieri, where the civic tower stood centuries ago.

San Leonardo

This 15th-century chapel, in Romanesque-Gothic style and rich in frescoes, was the manse of first the Knights Templar order and then the Order of Malta.

Historical Stages

Triumphal Arch

Located in the middle of the city's main street, it was erected in 1580 but suffered two ruinous collapses and took on its present appearance in 1867....perhaps this is also why there is the well-known Chierese diffidence about going below it!

Jewish Ghetto

The first Jewish communities settled in Chieri in the mid-16th century. During the 1700s, they adapted and built dwellings and a small synagogue in this area of the city. Today they are very atmospheric private spaces that preserve the memory of the place.
