The construction of the new Central Public Library within Pavilions 2 and 4 of the Torino Esposizioni complex forms part of the ‘Turin, its park and its river’ regeneration plan, funded by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) under the Next Generation EU programme, with a contribution from state funds.
The design of the new library draws inspiration from the model of modern European public libraries and involves the regeneration of indoor and outdoor spaces, spread over a total area of 20,000 square metres.
The new Central Public Library will create a dynamic and interactive environment, capable of linking the heritage of its collections with the contemporary digital world. It will be a large, accessible and inclusive cultural centre, open to its diverse users and to the whole city, set within an environment of exceptional architectural and landscape value.
The opening is scheduled for 11 December 2026.
