Varesio Mill Museum

Museum

The Piano mill, known as the Varesio mill, dates back to the late Middle Ages. The year in which it was built and began operating is unknown, but it was certainly before the construction of the city walls, which date back to the second half of the 14th century.
The mill was owned by feudal lords until 1797, when the last Marquis of Bussoleno ceded it, together with the rights to the water that fed it, to the Municipality of Bussoleno.
The Varesio Mill ceased operations on 11 May 1988, after more than eighty years of family management and three generations of millers.
The mill has now been converted into a museum with a room dedicated to water, from which you can see the mill wheel in motion and the working turbine, leading to the historic heart of the building: three floors where you can see all the original components of the wooden mill.
