A pleasant hike with a wealth of natural and scenic attractions. A moderately challenging trail through the Canavese foothills and the Monti Pelati Nature Reserve. We'll depart and arrive in the hamlet of Campo di Castellamonte at 517 meters. From the church square, we'll begin our route, which will take us on a moderate climb to the seventeenth-century Church of Sant'Antonio. Surrounded by beautiful chestnut groves, we'll descend gently through the hills to the south. With a few steeper descents, we'll reach the foot of the very strange Monti Pelati Nature Reserve: an area of great geological interest and a lunar landscape. We'll climb to the ancient tower atop a hill and, after lunch, cross the reserve to the south. From its southern edge, we'll ascend through pleasant woods, fields, and farmhouses to Campo, where we started. -
Elevation gain and difficulty: The hike has an elevation gain of approximately 500 meters (including 150 meters on the final climb) on dirt roads, good trails, and short stretches of asphalt at the connection points between trails. This hike is suitable for moderately fit individuals and children aged 8 and over. However, please note the various ups and downs along the route. The itinerary is approximately 13-14 km long.
