Of late Roman origin, the church was rebuilt in the Romanesque period (XII sec.) In reversed orientation. The aisles were separated by square pillars and the deep apse ended in a semicircle; the chancel, raised, was prolonged in the first span of the nave and was accessible through a stone stairway. The construction has lived, since the sixteenth century, several stages of transformation that have spared only the bell tower was added to the south side. Today the bell tower still retains its Romanesque appearance with the decoration hanging arches topped by a brick frame. Inside, at the side of the nave, was found a circular artifact identified with the bottom of the Source (bath) Battesimale dating back to the early church (VI sec).
