The 20th Snow Festival with Snowshoes is the most anticipated winter event in the Lanzo Valleys, held every year in Usseglio: a great snow festival designed for families, mountain lovers and outdoor enthusiasts, celebrating sport, togetherness and the beauty of the alpine winter landscape.
The event takes place over an entire weekend, with a rich programme of activities for all tastes and all ages.
The festival kicks off on Saturday afternoon with activities mainly dedicated to children and families: costume games during the Children’s Carnival at the Casa del Fondo, featuring entertainment, fun and hot chocolate offered by the local Pro Loco association. This is followed by the Usoei Children & Family Color Run, an early-evening walk with fluorescent gadgets, music and entertainment. The evening continues with Franco-Provençal music and dancing at the Municipal Multi-purpose Hall, where local folk groups animate the dance floor, creating a lively and welcoming atmosphere. The highlight of the night is the traditional bonfire, a collective ritual of sharing and celebration.
Sunday is dedicated to snow and to the main activity of the event: the snowshoe hike along a route of about 6km, set in the spectacular natural scenery of the Upper Viù Valley at the foot of Monte Lera. The hike is open to everyone, with no age limits, and no medical certificate is required for the non-competitive version, making it accessible to families, hikers and anyone wishing to enjoy a simple and engaging snow experience.
At the end of the snowshoe hike, a prize-giving ceremony takes place with numerous prizes.
