The Historical Society of the Lanzo Valleys presents its 156th volume The Lanzo Valleys towards Liberation. Missions and corvée across the Alps 1944-1945, an important work documenting the memory of the partisan struggle and the Alpine communities during the Second World War.
The evening will feature the authors, who will recount the partisan missions, the crossings of the Alps in extreme conditions and the fundamental role played by the people of the valley in the fight for freedom.
The book traces the intricate relationships between partisan groups, the French Resistance and the Allied Command, focusing on rescue operations, the transport of food, ammunition and persecuted families, and proposes hiking routes following the paths taken by the corvées, inviting the public to “remember with their feet” and with their hearts the local history.
