The Castle dates back to the Early Middle Ages (X century). During the second half the 18th century, Paolo Federico Novarina, Count of San Sebastiano, commissioned Bernardo Vittone to refurbish the entire complex. The architect from Piemonte re-elaborated the ancient medieval building, adding late-Baroque and neo-classical elements. The gallery frescoed by Pietro Bagetti is very beautiful.
