Through images and videos, scientific communication can be transformed into a narrative capable of engaging the public and giving voice to research.

From field missions to LIFE projects dedicated to biodiversity conservation, we will explore different ways of documenting the natural sciences, combining rigour, emotion and visual storytelling.

Francesco Tomasinelli, born in Genova in 1971 and a graduate in Marine Environmental Sciences from the University of Genoa, has always been fascinated by nature, especially in its most unusual expressions. He has worked in Italy and the United States in large aquariums and subsequently devoted himself to publishing, scientific dissemination and environmental consulting for companies and professional firms, including Triton Research and PN Studio.

As a photojournalist and correspondent, he collaborates with various publishing houses and magazines, mainly in the fields of science and tourism (Touring, Focus, Rivista della Natura) and with two photographic agencies in Italia and the United States (AGF and Science Source). Together with Zelig comedian Antonio Ornano, he created a scientific dissemination format that has been presented in theatres, museums and festivals throughout Italia, and he is a regular guest on Rai 3's GEO TV programme.
