In 2000, Brandt embarked on an ambitious photographic project entitled “The Day May Break”: a trilogy celebrating the drama of nature facing extinction.
His images portray people who have been severely affected by climate change, as well as animals rescued from poaching.
The exhibition at the Gallerie d'Italia will present all the chapters of the trilogy, including a new series, shot in Jordan, commissioned by Intesa Sanpaolo. In this fourth chapter, the photographs portray Syrian refugee families, mostly farmers, forced into a life of constant displacement in search of the most suitable climatic conditions for harvesting and subsistence.
