The period we commonly refer to as Baroque covers a fairly broad span of time, from the 17th century to much of the 18th century, during which musical language underwent radical transformations that are still being explored and rediscovered today: a slow and gradual process that moved from the often irregular creativity of the early days to a need for rationalisation that also imposed itself on musical thinking.
Music by Biber, Froberger, Schmelzer, Handel, Bach.
