The full-day guided tour includes:
• visit to the Museum, presented in a manner appropriate to the age of the group. The exhibition offers a thematic itinerary that introduces students to basic needs and ancient technologies: the home, fire, stone and clay working, fibres and weaving, animal husbandry and cultivation, hunting, food, and early metals. Of particular note are the reconstruction of a Neolithic hut interior and the diorama of a Bronze Age workshop. The panels on the daily life of primitive man are complemented by others concerning the different periods, but also prehistory in the Susa Valley: archaeological sites, geological and cultural evolution. The guided tour includes experiences with the Tactile Collection: the opportunity to touch and explore the artefacts directly exercises the perceptive and sensory abilities, stimulates interest and attention, and leads to knowledge of raw materials, techniques and processing tools, nature and functions of the object.
• Archaeological trail in the woods: the walk is not overly demanding but requires footwear and clothing suitable for walking in the woods with slight ascents and descents. Through the evocative scenery of the remains of the ancient gneiss quarry, you arrive at the main stops: the “Rumiano” rock shelter (site of archaeological finds), the “Baità” (site where the prehistoric village probably stood, where the large Neolithic hut has been reconstructed) and the marshland area (rich in ideas for further exploration of the contents of the visit, also from a naturalistic point of view
• educational workshops: introduced by a presentation/theoretical conversation, they include materials, tools and procedures used in prehistoric times. You can choose the workshop from the website (school page divided by school grade).
