Edible wild herbs, or forage plants such as dandelion, nettle, mallow, purslane and wild garlic, are edible wild resources rich in nutrients.

Historically used in times of famine, they have now been rediscovered in the kitchen: they are harvested young, preferably away from sources of pollution, and eaten raw in salads or cooked in soups or fillings.

Wild herb gathering is a very ancient activity, but it must follow good practices, both for their safe identification and to prevent the depletion of populations in the environment.

Park rangers and experts will guide participants on a journey of discovery about the characteristics of the herbs, how to correctly identify them, and how to gather them with full respect for the environment.

• 9.00 am: talk on edible flowers, from garlic to courgette

• 10.00 am: walk in search of wild herbs accompanied by the Turin Mycological Group and park rangers from the Management Body of the Protected Areas of the Piedmontese Po (cancelled in the event of bad weather)

Bookings must be made by 12.00 pm on Friday 27
