A literary walk that takes you up into the mountains: following a gentle slope along a dirt track, mostly through beech woods, we will reach two groups of ancient mountain huts, at an altitude of around 1,400 metres.
Shortly after setting off, we’ll reach the hamlet of Balma di Viù, one of the most picturesque in the area, where the ancient benàl (barns, once with thatched roofs), the chapel, the oven and the viewpoint still stand; we’ll then climb to Baite Cima and Pianàs, an easy walk, suitable even for those who aren’t particularly fit.
Along the route, there will be several stops where Luana Doni, an actress and assistant director, and Francesco Halupca, an actor and playwright from Trieste, will revisit the central theme of Rendez-Viù 2026 – that of encounters – to present some of the most famous first encounters in the history of literature. We will therefore enjoy moments of live theatre, set and staged within the context of the walk itself, with costumes and scenery perfectly integrated into this little corner of paradise, which boasts an extraordinary view over the Tornetti valley and the imposing peak of Civrari.
We recommend wearing walking boots or hiking shoes, dressing in layers, and bringing a water bottle which you can fill up along the route.
