Presentation of the book Imaginary Mountains by and with Michele Sasso, in conversation with Pasquale De Vita.

What future for mountains in Italia?

The Italian mountains, from the Alps to the Apennines, are undergoing momentous changes due to climate change, anthropogenic pressure and the decline in population in inland areas.

Through a thorough and comprehensive investigation, Michele Sasso depicts the crisis in the so called snow economy and the imperative to reconsider existing approaches to tourism. As a further contribution, he tells stories of conscious decision to remain in one's own territory and the resilience of communities that have chosen to persevere and innovate, highlighting the opportunities to pursue sustainable development, inspired by case studies and best practices from the region.

Michele Sasso teaches journalism and storytelling at the Mohole School in Milano; he currently has a position at La Stampa, where he joined after collaborating with Radio Popolare, Il Fatto Quotidiano, Altreconomia, Linkiesta, and L'Espresso.
