Jannik Sinner triumphs at the 2024 Nitto ATP Finals. A final with bated breath and tennis at the highest level was played on Sunday 17 November between Jannik Sinner and Californian Taylor Fritz.
Sinner won his first ATP title in Italy under the eyes of a wonderful crowd at the Inalpi Arena in Torino, beating Fritz in one hour and 24 minutes with a 6-4 6-4 result.
‘It's fantastic. A crazy week. It's the first title in Italy and it means so much to me. I am so happy. It's something really special, to play so well in front of this incredible crowd. Since last year I have been constantly trying to improve. Today, of course, there was more tension than the other days because it was a final so I am happy with how I handled this situation and especially to share this trophy with the Italian public. Since I arrived in Turin, a week before the tournament started, they immediately started to support me in a crazy way’.
Says Jannik, who had already come within a step of victory in 2023, playing against Djokovic.
With him wins the whole of Italy, which has been officially confirmed as the venue of the Nitto ATP FInals for the next five years, until 2030. Still uncertainties about the city. But in the meantime, Turin is proud of its 2024 success and awaits the next 2025 edition, from 9 to 16 November, for which tickets are already on sale (click here for info).
The Sinner effect has resonated throughout the city of Turin and Piedmont, so much so that the mayor Stefano Lo Russo has announced: ‘I will ask the City Council to confer honorary citizenship on him: as well as being an incredible symbol for tennis, he is also an incredible symbol for Torino’.
The programme of events, guided tours, tastings and entertainment that involved the entire city during the ten days, under the name Slence Please, was also a success: over 7,000 attendees, 50 talks, 150 guests, more than 200 events spread throughout the city, 64 tastings, 43 guided tours, around 19,000 euros donated to the Molinette Research Foundation and over 5 million views on social media.
