From the Neolithic to Segusio: seven new galleries on the archaeology of the Valle di Susa

The Civic Archaeological Museum of the City of Susa – Adelaide Castle is opening seven new archaeological galleries to the public, showcasing over a century of research in the area.

The first is dedicated to the oldest artefacts, from the Neolithic to the Iron Age. The following six galleries trace the origins and development of Segusio: the agreement between Augustus and King Cozio, the arch erected in his honour, the forum and major public works, religious cults, daily life in the domus, and the necropolises.

• 5.00 pm – round-table discussion on new research findings with Federico Barello, Deborah Rocchietti and Luisa Ferrero (Superintendence of Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape for the Metropolitan City of Turin), Elena Cimarosti (University of Genoa), Maurizio Gomez Serito and Nannina Spanò (Turin Polytechnic)

• 6.30 pm/10.30 pm – self-guided, inclusive tour, with opportunities to speak to museum staff

• 7.00 pm – drinks reception

On Sunday 27th, guided tours of the archaeological sites are available at 10.30 am and 11.30 am (booking required), and tours of the Castle at 3.00 pm and 4.00 pm.
