A long season to be experienced in the medieval botanical garden of Palazzo Madama and in the greenery of the city of Torino, learning to follow the rhythm of nature and observe the changes and evolution of plants through the seasons. Appointments in the museum begin in the veranda with ‘gardening chats’ and continue in the garden with practical demonstrations and observations from life; in the city there will be walks through avenues, parks and gardens: a way to experience the green at 360 degrees.

Roses and fruits, hedges and creepers: Shaping the plants around us is a way to keep them healthy and make the garden more balanced. In the theoretical part we will discuss the motivations and choices that lead to pruning plants, in the practical part we will perform demonstrations of the correct cuts on garden plants

Winter flowering is always of great fascination and when we talk about hellebores we also add the extraordinary beauty of a flower with a thousand ‘faces’. In the theoretical part we will talk about the origin and spread from the European wilderness to gardens and balconies all over the world; in the practical part we will see how to take care of the plants during and after flowering.
The survival strategy of bulbous plants also deserves to be explored in depth for the great satisfaction that these flowering, aromatic and vegetable plants can give. In the theoretical part the bulbs will be analysed from a botanical and historical point of view, in the practical part we will discover how best to cultivate in the garden and in pots hundreds of plants all different from each other but united by the presence of a bulb!
‘The ‘encyclopaedia’ of roses is constantly evolving, new varieties are introduced every year to satisfy the tastes and needs of all of us; antique and perfume roses, however, have an unchanging charm. In the theoretical part we will look at the history and origin of historical roses and how they have been preserved to this day; in the practical part we will look at post-flowering and disease treatment and combinations with aromatic plants.
Once spring flowering is over, everything seems to be done for the plants, but in reality this is the crucial moment when first the seeds and then the fruits, which are essential for perpetuating the species, are obtained. In the theoretical part, the vegetative cycle of plants and how to ensure seed production will be discussed; in the practical part, we will see how to collect and store seeds and fruits, as well as practical tests of sowing in the soil
The river is naturally a privileged environment for tree growth, and the urban context makes it possible to appreciate very interesting and unusual trees. Route from Piazza Vittorio Veneto along Po Machiavelli to Michelotti Park.
In the 19th and 20th centuries, many gardens in the city centre were laid out in the Italian, French and English style. Trees, flowerbeds and furnishings embellish our city centre, starting from the Sambuy Garden and arriving in Piazza Maria Teresa, passing through the Balbo flowerbed and Cavour Garden
