Can science enter the museum? Over the last decade, the development of technologies and methods has opened new perspectives for studying archaeological artifacts preserved in museums.

Today, the term museomics refers to a research field that integrates biological science methodologies with the questions and methods of archaeology and museology. The study of biomolecules (carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, DNA) holds great potential for revealing previously inaccessible information regarding the lifestyles, mobility, death, and human-animal relationships of ancient communities.
