Apples are undoubtedly the stars of the show.
The exhibition area covers over 13,000 square metres, two-thirds of which is indoors, and offers a wide range of events designed to raise awareness of and promote the agricultural produce, trade and crafts of Cavour and the surrounding area.
Various initiatives are planned, such as an exhibition of the finest varieties of apples, produced by over 200 fruit growers and cooperatives from various Italian regions, as well as a food fair offering tastings of local produce.
There is also the Apple Gastronomic Week, involving around 10 restaurants serving menus based entirely on apples; at weekends, thousands of portions of delicious apple fritters are made and sold.
Apples are sold directly to the public, and conferences and debates are held on agricultural policies, issues relating to agricultural development and cultivation techniques.
The festival is rounded off by photography, painting and sculpture exhibitions, displays of agricultural machinery, performances, sporting events such as the AppleRun, and competitions such as ‘La Mela in vetrina’.
