Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Pinerolo
Autonomous arrival in Pinerolo, once a fortified citadel, known for being the city of the Cavalry. Enjoy its medieval old town, the Church of Sant'Agostino with its exhibition "Pinerolo Francese", the Basilica di San Maurizio from which you can enjoy a spectacular view over the plain and valleys, before saying goodbye to the city and entering Val Chisone: The trekking starts the next morning!
Possibility to taste the famous Torta Zurigo, born in Pinerolo, or the typical Piedmont gofri of the upper valley.
Day 2: Villa Wideman Park, the heroic vineyards of Ramiè, the flight of the angel of Pomaretto and Perosa Argentina
Your journey on the Roads of the Forts begins with a nice stop on paths and roads half-way up the coast, among heroic vineyards and blooming villages. In San Germano Chisone, you will have the opportunity to visit the Turina village and the beautiful Widemann Park with its characteristic pond, where especially in spring, you can enjoy the flowering of azaleas and over 400 hydrangeas. Continuing along the Verdeacqua path, which follows the course of the Chisone stream, you climb up to the heights of San Germano Chisone and Inverso Pinasca, along pleasant paths in the middle of the woods. You reach the villages of Pomaretto, a town in the lower Val Germanasca. Well-kept paths, terraced vineyards of the Ramìe wine, the zipline 'il Volo del Dahu' to the well-kept and flowery old town. Some stretches are really pleasant to walk, enjoying the freshness and silence that the forest offers.
Free meals, possibility to taste the wine Ramìe at the "Ciabot" in the heroic vineyards.
Day 3: Bec Dauphin and Forte di Fenestrelle
Start early today! Today you can expect a stage full of historical ideas on the border of the ancient Dauphiné where you meet the ruins of the fort called 'Bec Dauphin'. Stage that goes up the Chisone Valley crossing boroughs witnesses of life once with fountains, wash houses, murals up to Fenestrelle: the City of Forts, where you can still see the ruins of ancient fortresses surrounding the imposing Fort of Fenestrelle, the great wall of the Alps that rises up the mountain with its 4000 steps. Possibility to visit the outside of the Fort or you can take a guided tour of about an hour inside the Fort San Carlo with its palaces, cellars and kitchens.
Free meals, possibility to book the entrance reserved for the "Petite Spa" to relax from the long walk.
4th day: Forte Serre Marie, Parco Orsiera-Rocciavré, Pian dell'Alpe and Usseaux... one of the most beautiful villages in Italy
An unforgettable stop! From Fenestrelle you continue to Pian dell'Alpe, touching the strong Serre Marie and Falouel. You will have the opportunity to observe several fortifications along the route and walk in the beautiful setting of the Orsiera-Rocciavré Natural Park. Walking patiently up the first bends, you may be lucky enough to spot some hares and chamois that inhabit the forest. Once you arrive at Pian dell'Alpe, accompanied by the sound of marmots and cows grazing, you can observe the beauty of this plateau at 1950 m altitude that, between June and July, offers a spectacular floral panorama of violets, gentian and rhododendrons.
Free meals, possibility to have lunch at the Rifugio Lago delle Rane in Pian dell'Alpe.

It will be like immersing yourself in an open-air museum: the wonderful murals painted on walls, doors and windows of houses, where animals, landscapes and the peasant life of yesteryear are depicted. The village is characterized by the typical houses in mountain style, wood and stone, scattered next to each other between narrow streets, between the stone washrooms and traditional craft shops, all in a natural environment with great charm.
