To rediscover the relationship between man, the forest and the darkness before the advent of artificial lighting. The excursion centres on the figure of the charcoal burner, a symbol of the historical relationship between man and the woodland. Through the story of his life, spent day and night tending the charcoal kiln, the tour explores themes such as the starry sky as a guide for orientation and time, the nocturnal wildlife that shared the woodland with man, and the natural value of darkness. Light pollution serves as a point of comparison with the present day, highlighting how the gradual disappearance of night has altered not only the landscape but also our relationship with the environment.
The circular route starts from B Borgata Brun and presents no particular technical or elevation-related difficulties.
